Crimson Japanese Peony Decoupage Tray

A crimson peony, bold as lacquer and soft as silk, opens under glass. Petals glow like evening lanterns, a golden heart alive at the center, the kind of bloom that has always meant abundance, romance, and very good luck.

In our New York studio we practice French decoupage with care and patience. Ben painted the artwork by hand, then we laid it in reverse beneath the glass, sealed it with hand-brushed varnish, and gently bent the pane so light moves across the petals. The surface wipes clean, the back is felted, the piece is food safe, and Ben signs each one before it leaves the bench.

Style it on a vanity to cradle jewels, set it on a bar cart for citrus and chocolates, or stand it upright so the room catches the bloom. A folded card travels with every tray, sharing the time-honored process that marries paper and glass. Photogenic, collectable, and unmistakably Ben’s Garden, this is a flower that never fades.
