The hush of a library at dusk. Leather spines burnished by a century of hands. Gilt lettering catching the last light of afternoon. This tray captures a row of storied British studies volumes from archives —titles that once held Darwin’s theories, marine algae studies, and the elegant rigor of Victorian scholarship. It is a portrait of curiosity itself: orderly, luminous, enduring.
Handcrafted in our New York studio in the French tradition of decoupage, each image is laid in reverse beneath glass so the details gleam with remarkable depth—the gold tooling, the softened cloth bindings, the patina of time. The bent-glass form is substantial yet refined, and each tray is individually signed by Ben.
Food-safe and wipe-clean with a felted back, it moves effortlessly from study to salon—holding correspondence on a desk, citrus beside a decanter, or resting upright on a gallery easel like a quiet still life. Each piece arrives with a folded card describing the centuries-old craft. A gift for bibliophiles, Anglophiles, and anyone who believes knowledge is its own kind of luxury.
