In our New York studio, the artwork is applied in the French tradition of découpage: laid in reverse under bent glass, sealed with fine varnishes, and burnished until the script seems to float like wet ink. The result is both sentimental and striking—an homage to the disappearing art of cursive and the way a few handwritten words can still quicken the heart.
Practical as it is poetic, this tray makes a perfect desk or bedside catch-all, just the right size for pencils and pens, a phone, readers, or a daily stack of notes. Ben’s signature felted back lands softly on marble and wood; the smooth glass surface is food-safe and wipes clean in a heartbeat. Each piece is individually signed by Ben and arrives with a folded card explaining the time-honored decoupage process.
