The lovely thing about a New York key is everything it opens.
An apartment five flights up. A door to a friend’s kitchen, where dinner always runs late. A small, hard-won corner of a city that once felt impossibly large.
This tray celebrates that feeling of belonging. Bold black lettering spells out NEW YORK CITY against a warm, parchment-toned background, framed by intricate borders and the tiny letters and numbers of a vintage map key. There is something wonderfully New York about it: three words, plenty of character, no introduction necessary.
Handcrafted in our New York studio in the French tradition of decoupage, each piece brings the artwork beneath the luminous surface of bent glass. Individually signed by Ben, it carries a little of the city’s creative spirit into the everyday.
Set it beside the door for the keys you reach for each morning. Keep it on a bedside table for the jewelry you take off after a very good evening. Or stand it among your books and collected treasures, where those three familiar words can catch your eye.
For someone getting their first set of New York keys, someone handing back their last, or anyone whose heart still lives here.
Food safe, with a felted underside. Wipe clean. Beautiful displayed on a gallery easel or hung with a plate hanger. A folded card explaining the time-honored decoupage process accompanies each piece.
