Long before seashells became souvenirs, they were miniature wonders, gathered from distant shores and carefully illustrated for cabinets of curiosity. This vintage natural-history study brings together spirals, scallops, ridges, and improbable colors, each shell appearing like a tiny piece of architecture designed by the sea.
Handcrafted in our New York studio in the French tradition of découpage, the artwork is reverse-applied beneath bent glass, then carefully layered and burnished until every delicate marking glows through a perfectly smooth surface. Each tray is individually signed by Ben, a quiet mark of the hands and studio behind it.
Food-safe, wipe-clean, and softly felted on the reverse, it is beautiful serving drinks and oysters, gathering jewelry and correspondence, or displayed upright on a gallery easel or plate hanger. A folded card explaining the time-honored découpage process accompanies each piece.
For beachcombers, collectors, and anyone who understands that the sea rarely sends us home empty-handed.
