Truly innovative products leave their mark on the world not on the planet.
Environmental Initiative & Responsibility
Inspired initially and boldly, by the journey of his brother Jonathan while at college in Maine, and by our responsibility to climate change and Greta Thunberg; we have reimagined how we think about how we construct everything and transitioned to FSC-certified paper stock, printing presses powered by wind power, clear bags which dissolve in water (which are made from corn), packing peanuts made from cornstarch- and this is just to name a few. We share one planet, forever. It is our duty and true responsibility to take care of it for our children and their children.
Forestry is a major focus of the global sustainability movement because there are significant consequences to poor forestry practices, including loss of biodiversity, flooding and climate change.
We believe that FSC is a robust forest management and certification program. With its controls at every stage of the supply chain, FSC is a reliable system for assessment and mitigation of risks regarding involvement with illegal timber harvesting. Through the FSC certification programs, the source and legality of wood fiber is well documented.
Using high amounts of post consumer waste fiber is an important way to reduce pressure on forest lands and Mohawk is a leading producer of recycled paper. Every year we use thousands of tons of post consumer fiber in the production of our fine papers.
Leaving a Smaller Footprint on the World
Across our operations, and throughout our supply chain, we continue to make great strides in shrinking our environmental footprint. Our 2025 strategy builds on that progress, setting even higher standards for reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, decreasing waste and water use, and sourcing our materials in the most ethical and responsible manner possible.
